Adults with Disabilities

To identify and better serve the needs of adults with disabilities, Connecticut State Department of Education, Academic Office - Adult Education, supports and implements a formal Technical Assistance (TA) Model to assist Connecticut Adult Education personnel.

Disability Consultant

The Disability Consultant works with the Connecticut State Department of Education, Academic Office - Adult Education, and the Adult Training and Development Network (ATDN) in delivering information concerning adult learning disabilities protected under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to Adult Education programs and Disability Contact Persons.

Disability Contact Persons

Each Adult Education program must identify an individual who, as the initial point of contact, is responsible for disseminating disability-related information to others in their program and serves as a resource for the local community. Disability Contact Persons (DCPs) meet annually to identify current needs, share resources, network, and work through common student/client scenarios.
